Salto de Malacatiupán

Ahuachapán

Atiquizaya – Ahuachapán Norte

About Salto de Malacatiupán

Malacatiupan Waterfall is the only waterfall in El Salvador with hot springs, making it a unique attraction, added to its scenic beauty of a natural terrain where the Agua Caliente River meets the San Antonio River. The waterfall has three cascades, with a height of about 12 meters.

The cascade is 20 minutes from the center of Atiquizaya, Ahuachapán, a picturesque town adorned with murals, including some 3D ones that are heavily photographed by tourists.

Just a short walk is enough to be dazzled by the landscape and the turquoise-colored water. Locals say that the second and third cascade are divided by a rock that resembles a monkey’s face.
