About Salcoatitán

A place renowned for its famous cuisine, especially the wood-fire yuca salcochada, a dish you must try when you visit.

Salcoatitán has a cool climate, situated at 1,045 meters above sea level and 81 kilometers from San Salvador; this municipality is part of the Ruta de La Flores.

The city offers many crafts and displays the method used to create the mosaic murals that characterize it. The art galleries are another attraction that will impress you.

Another highlight of the area is the Museo de la Imprenta, where you will learn the history of the beginnings and implementation of printing in El Salvador.

You can also go to the small plaza at the main entrance of the city, a centuries-old ceiba, characteristic of indigenous culture and steeped in history from before the town’s founding, which will welcome you.

Weekends are special because, in the central plaza, in front of its colonial church, the gastronomic festival is held.
