About Concepción de Ataco

One of the most colorful destinations in El Salvador awaits you!

With its cobblestone streets, vibrant murals, crafts, cuisine, and a cool climate, this is Ataco, another destination on the Ruta de Las Flores.

At 1,260 meters above sea level, surrounded by towering hills full of vegetation and prominent coffee plantations, in Ataco you can enjoy a richer ecotourism experience, as it features spectacular gardens, hot-water pools, and waterfalls.

If you are a coffee lover, you’ll surely like the Coffee Tour, an activity you can do on the nearby farms. You can also visit the artisanal weaving workshops, go to the lookout point on Cerro de La Cruz, visit the visual-arts studios, stroll its streets to see the colorful murals, and visit the church.

In the town you will taste gourmet and traditional food at the gastronomic festivals, especially on weekends. It doesn’t matter which day you decide to go, because in the central park you will always find stalls and restaurants in the surrounding area.

One of its most important traditions is the celebration of Día de los Farolitos, which has remained alive for more than 200 years. Every September 7 the streets are lit to celebrate the eve of the birth of the Virgin Mary.
