About Parque Bicentenario
The El Espino farm is one of the lungs of the Salvadoran capital, and it houses the Bicentennial Park, one of the destinations that should be on your list for mountain biking, hiking, or simply relaxing in the middle of the city.
Located on Jerusalem Avenue between San Salvador and Antiguo Cuscatlán, El Espino features areas such as a bike path, pedestrian trails, plazas, and picnic zones with grills and gardens; becoming a space full of dense vegetation where you can breathe pure air without leaving the metropolitan area.
This park is home to more than 420 species of fauna and over 500 specimens of wild flora. It also serves as a sanctuary for parakeets that migrate to various points in San Salvador and La Libertad.
The Bicentennial Park is the first Protected Natural Area located in the metropolitan zone and was inaugurated on November 5, 2011, the day the Bicentennial of the First Cry of Independence of Central America was celebrated, hence its name.
Pedestrian access is free and you can bring your pet and food. If you arrive by car, parking costs $1 Monday through Friday and $2 on Saturdays and Sundays. It is open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
