Cascadas Los Tercios
Suchitoto: Cuscatlán Norte
About Cascadas Los Tercios
Imagine enjoying a waterfall with a height of 10 meters, where you will have to climb its crumbling rocks to reach it, presenting a true challenge and adventure for extreme-sports lovers.
Your effort will be rewarded at the top of the waterfall, where you can achieve unforgettable views of Lake Suchitlán.
The stone formation is so unusual that many researchers have conducted studies to discover the reason for the creation of this natural jewel, and although there are several legends, the most popular one tells of a young woman from a wealthy family who fell hopelessly in love with an indigenous man, leading to a feud between families and generating a curse in which the entire family of the young woman would die and her store of beautiful, colorful fabrics would turn into rocks, thus explaining the origin of this strange and marvelous rock formation.
This place is visited by nationals and foreigners, especially in winter, when the descending water enhances its beauty, accompanied by the beautiful landscapes offered by the vegetation and wildlife.
Given how demanding the descent of the waterfall can be, we recommend slip-resistant footwear.
