Playa La Paz

Located in the heart of the Port of La Libertad, on the western side of the famous pier that marks this destination, is La Paz beach.

It is very popular with tourists because its shoreline has dozens of restaurants and accommodations, music and entertainment; while as a surf destination it has a very special charm.

It is a long point, with a rocky bottom and a right-breaking wave, which on an epic day can be the final spot of a ride that starts at the nearby and famous Punta Roca. But generally it has its own sections of gentle, somewhat slow waves, with long lines and a perfect shape.

Most Port of La Libertad surfers start on this wave, and beginners find it ideal for gaining experience before daring to tackle more demanding waves.

La Paz is a perfect wave for longboard and for SUP surfing, as the friendliness of its take-off zone and its wide wall invite crossing it calmly, almost in slow motion. However, it should not be underestimated; during days when the massive southern swells hit the Salvadoran coast, this quiet wave awakens and becomes a world-class break, even throwing tubes and crests up to 10 feet high (3.5 meters).

Because it is in the heart of the most famous Port of La Libertad city and only 30 minutes from the capital, La Paz is extremely accessible and has all the attractions a visitor needs. Dozens of hotels and accommodations, rental houses, restaurants with all kinds of food, transportation, banks, pharmacies, supermarkets and full connectivity.

In addition to surfing, there are dozens of activities to do and have a good time. Tours to parks, mountains, waterfalls, fishing, motorcycling and more. The capital city and its modernity are nearby, as is the majestic San Salvador volcano and its curious double crater El Boquerón.

Getting to La Paz beach from San Salvador costs nothing; take the road to the Port of La Libertad and once you arrive, head west; after passing the pier, turn left and you will have arrived.
